Job Description The Energy Manager is responsible for managing An Post's energy systems in accordance with ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 standards, covering all forms of energy used in maintaining company operations - including electricity, gas, LPG, oil, and transport fuel.
The role also leads the delivery and oversight of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure, supporting An Post's transition to a low-carbon fleet.
In addition, the role holder provides technical and administrative support for utility contracts across oil, gas, LPG, and electricity.
The Energy Manager ensures continuous compliance with ISO 50001 and 14001 systems, supports energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives, and collaborates with relevant internal and external stakeholders to meet An Post's environmental and sustainability goals.
This role integrates with broader Facilities and Sustainability strategies, including F-Gas management, energy monitoring, and delivery of measurable energy-saving projects across the property portfolio.
Responsibilities Energy & Environmental Management Reporting Deliver performance reports in line with ISO 50001 and 14001 objectives.
Support audits and maintain documentation in compliance with certification standards Project Coordination & Sustainability Initiatives Coordinate and deliver energy reduction projects across the business.
Support business units in achieving annual energy-reduction targets.
Manage deployment of a suite of energy-saving solutions when requested.
Maintain the F-Gas register and ensure compliance.
Act as lead support for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure development.
Collaborate with the Sustainability Team to achieve corporate environmental targets.
Support the SEAI relationship, including Display Energy Certificate (DEC) submissions.
Demonstrate and advocate An Post Values and behaviours in your day to day work and address behaviour that supports / conflicts with them.
Utility Contract Administration Assist in managing utility contracts for oil, gas, LPG, and electricity.
Prepare regular energy usage reports for : Processing plants (monthly) Significant Energy Users (monthly) Delivery Service Units (quarterly) Administrative Centres (quarterly) Retail Offices (quarterly) Technical & Audit Support Provide qualified support to An Post's sustainability initiatives.
Hold and maintain certifications including : ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 Internal Auditor BER Assessor DEC Assessor Environmental and Energy Improvements Identify and review environmental initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption across facilities.
Energy Monitoring Conduct regular monitoring and analysis of building energy usage via dedicated web-based metering platforms.
Qualifications You will have a minimum Level 8 technical qualification in an engineering or energy-related discipline.
It is critical to have ISO 50001 and 14001 internal auditor qualifications.
Additionally, having BER and DEC assessor certification, as well as an environmental diploma or equivalent, is desirable.
You must have demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating ISO-certified energy and environmental systems.
A solid understanding of good engineering practices and environmental compliance standards is required.
You should also have a solid understanding of energy monitoring systems and reporting tools.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is vital.
Familiarity with web-based energy monitoring platforms and data analytics is also important.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
You should have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently.
Experience working in a unionised organisation is desirable.

Salary The salary for this position is based on the CM1 pay range (median €79,269).
The usual starting pay and promotion rules apply for those being promoted : that is the higher of either
(i) 80% of the median (€63,415) or
(ii) the total of existing pay plus any productivity allowance, plus 5% of basic pay.

Appointment There will be a six-month probationary period and process in place for the individual appointed to this position.
Should a successful candidate fail to achieve the standards expected at any stage during the probationary period, there will be early, effective intervention designed to enable them to reach and maintain acceptable standards of performance.
However, should they fail to reach and maintain these standards following this intervention; they will revert to their previous grading / position and to the salary point they would have reached if they had continued in that grade, provided the record of service during their period in the position now advertised was satisfactory from the point of view of conduct.
