Honeycomb Jobs LimitedBelfast, GBHoneycomb is delighted to partner with a prestigious membership organisation to recruit for a Library and Legal Research Assistant to join their busy Legal Library and Information Service function based in Belfast city centre. The role is full term and permanent. The Job The Library and Research Assistant is a front line role providing Legal Library Information Services to clients, ensuring they receive a first-class service based on their requirements. Typical duties will include : Key Responsibilities : Manage legal research inquiries by identifying authoritative materials, utilising legal databases, and presenting organised and comprehensive results. Process document preparation requests, including compilation of e-Bundles. Support day-to-day Library& Information Services operations such as ordering resources, managing subscriptions, maintaining databases, and assisting with current awareness services. Promote Library & Information Services, keeping clients informed about available resources and how they enhance their professional activities. Stay updated on topical legal developments to provide accurate and informed responses. Maintain an organised library environment, including shelving, retrieving materials, and overseeing book repairs and binding. Obtain external materials in compliance with copyright regulations to expand the range of resources available. Comply with information security protocols and undertake additional duties relevant to the role as needed. The Person Essential Criteria Minimum of 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Thorough working knowledge of technology, including : Online databases such as Lexis+ and Westlaw UK. Internet research. MS Office applications (Word and Excel). General understanding of the legal process and primary and secondary legal materials. Minimum of 1 year's experience in knowledge, information, and research within : A law library. A paralegal role (e.g., in a law firm, solicitor's office, or chambers). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional customer service skills. Highly motivated and an energetic self-starter. Exacting attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Ability to extract key information for legal research enquiries. Strong personal management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Disciplined approach to presenting information. Problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset. Tactful and diplomatic. Flexibility to adapt to high-pressure, demanding periods at the Service Desk. Desirable Criteria Good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, particularly in creating and manipulating electronic PDF documents. Familiarity with Northern Ireland-specific law-making processes and materials.
