The Assistant Critical Facilities Manager plays a vital role in supporting the FM Lead, overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of data centre facilities on behalf of our client.
This role involves managing the on-site technical team, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all critical systems, and driving operational excellence.
A client-centric approach and promoting strong client relations are crucial to the success and delivery of this role.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in data centre operations, provide leadership, and ensure compliance with technical standards and service levels.
Possessing excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, they will play a pivotal role in driving improvements in process performance and technical standards across the site, effectively prioritising and delivering within a dynamic and high-pressure, business-critical environment.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage the technical team operating across the site.Mentor and grow the technical standard and competence of the technical staff across the site, ensuring knowledge sharing and engineering best practice is exercised consistently across the Data Centre.Talent manages all staff within the technical team to ensure appropriate training plans, performance reviews and succession planning are implemented.Define the roadmap and long-term strategy in terms of technical direction and standards for the technical team and wider DPI team.Ownership of all technical operational standards, escalations, CE training and CE compliance across the site.Oversee the development & implementation of all procedures, CE documentation and operating policies, ensuring they are effectively communicated and adhered to by all DPI staff within the contract.Partner with Business Ops, Planning, CE Day & shift Operations, QHSE and Project teams to plan and execute against a broad array of business, strategic and Operational needs.Ownership of the full RCA process and delivers the final report to DPI leadership.Create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement throughout the team, identify and implement design improvements alongside the Client's Operations Manager and DPI Technical Director.Review, provide input and oversee all technical training requirements rolled out by the wider DPI grou,p including but not limited to Authorising person & Senior AP certificatio.nsDrive and deliver performance that meets and exceeds the KPs and SLA's outlined in the SOW with the client.Monitor and track the performance level of the technical team against KPI's and SLA's outlined in the SOW with the client.
Provide a full breakdown of any breaches of SLA / KPI to the Business Manager.Be the main point of contact during significant events or multi-disciplinary technical escalations occurring on site 24 / 7.Ensure Data Centre operations, business policies and processes are effectively communicated, implemented, and always adhered to by all DPI staff within the contract.Development and management of all operational procedures and Drills within the Data Centre.Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and DPI staff working within the site.Ensure both the clients and DPI's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment policies and processes are effectively implemented across both DPI and subcontractor activities and are regularly reviewed.Ensure appropriate control systems are in place to ensure statutory, policy, and contractual commitments are met.Provide CE data required for reports and meetings for the Data Centre, these include Monthly Contract reviews, Monthly & Quarterly client business reviews and any other reports as required.Regularly monitor and assess CE Operational performance, highlighting areas of under-performance, driving innovation and efficiency, recognising and promoting excellent performance across the DPI team.Ensure appropriate control systems are in place to ensure statutory, policy, and contractual commitments are met.Manage other tasks as required to meet business needs, and provide technical support to the wider DPI group as and when required.Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.Represent the business, promoting and maintaining our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.Essential Skills and ExperienceMinimum 8 years eof xperience working in Critical OperationsMinimum 5 years management experience in Facilities Management and / or Assistant Manager within a critical environment.Technical knowledge and / or experience of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure used in a data centre environment.Strong understanding of CMMS Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and tools.Experience in managing escalation and emergency issues.Strong leadership skills with proven Line Management experience.Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally, maintaining client relations and providing excellent service.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound judgments.Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels.Ability to remain calm under pressure, ssolution-drivenwith with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.Willingness to work outside of normal hours to resolve technical issues in a 24 / 7 industry.Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and other business systems, e.g.
