Job Title : Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Technician

Location : Ireland (Nationwide)

Job Type : Full Time

Department : Operations / Maintenance / Engineering

Reports To : I&C Supervisor / Maintenance Manager

Job Summary : The I&C Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and control systems used in industrial processes.

This includes a wide range of equipment such as sensors, transmitters, control valves, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS).

The technician ensures these systems operate reliably, accurately, and safely to support efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities : Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair instrumentation and control systems.Troubleshoot issues in PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.Perform loop checks, signal tracing, and functional testing.Interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.Maintain accurate documentation of work, including calibration records and service reports.Assist in system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to resolve process control issues.Required Skillset : 2+ years of experience in I&C maintenance or commissioning in an industrial setting (e.g., power plant, manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceutical).Strong understanding of instrumentation principles, control systems, and process automation.Familiarity with PLC / DCS platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Emerson).Ability to read and interpret technical documents.Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Qualifications : Craft certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Instrumentation or Electrical.or A Diploma or equivalent in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or manufacturing engineering.Working Conditions : May involve working in outdoor or hazardous environments.Required to wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
