Are you a seasoned engineer ready to take ownership of mission-critical greenfield initiatives with real business value?

Our client — a rapidly expanding financial services organisation — is building out new technology platforms and delivery teams, and they're looking for a proactive, hands-on Staff Engineer to help shape this transformation during a key period of growth.

In this role, you'll lead the design and delivery of modern applications using Microsoft technologies and React, balancing architectural vision with deep, hands-on development.

This is a unique opportunity to build greenfield systems from the ground up, influencing key decisions and setting the standard for technical excellence across the team.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership : Own the full lifecycle of software development — from solution design and architecture through to development, deployment, and operational support.

Build robust, scalable, and performant greenfield applications aligned with evolving business demands.

Set high standards for code quality, technical design, and maintainability.

Make architectural decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term strategy.

Partner with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and shape practical, impactful solutions.

Act as a key technical advisor, clearly articulating trade-offs, timelines, and risk to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Drive best practices across agile development, DevOps, test automation, and CI / CD.

Lead system improvement initiatives, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Evaluate emerging tools and technologies, recommending adoption where they offer clear value.

Skills & Experience Required 5+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft .NET (C#) development.

At least 3 years of strong practical experience with React, including modern front-end architecture and UX principles.

Deep knowledge of SQL Server, including stored procedures, query optimisation, and large dataset handling.

Strong understanding of Microservices and messaging systems (e.g.

RabbitMQ, Kafka).

Practical experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (e.g.

Kubernetes).

Solid background in building and integrating RESTful APIs, including use of API Gateways.

Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading software teams, particularly in Agile settings.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

A passion for clean, efficient code and continuous technical improvement.
