The School of Mathematics and School of Physics are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer specialising in IT. The ideal candidate will provide advanced technical support, with a focus on audio-visual systems, deskside IT support, and hardware and software maintenance. The role holder will manage multiple tasks, offer exceptional customer service, and contribute to the enhancement of our IT infrastructure. The position will be based 50% of the time within the School of Physics and 50% based in the School of Mathematics. The post-holder will work as a member of the technical support team charged with ensuring the successful IT / AV support of the Maths and Physics staff, teaching laboratories and both Schools research facilities / associated research centres. The role will also entail assisting with other related technical duties and responsibilities within both Schools. Post status : Permanent Hours of Post : 36.5 hours per week Salary : Appointment will be made on the Technical Officer Pay Scale Salary Scale] at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€39,845 to €60,345 per annum] New Entrants to the Public Sector will be appointed on Point 1 of the Scale, €39,485 per annum Qualifications for New Staff (from 1 January 2007) Entry to the profession will require relevant Honours degree. National Certificate on Entry- Qualifications for Existing Staff (before 1 January 2007) The preferred candidate if an MSc holder on entry, with a minimum of 3 years experience (that must be relevant), may be appointed at Senior Technical Officer level.
