Overview The purpose of the Risk Advisor role is to protect and safeguard the interests of our member firms through advice, ongoing support and facilitation. This involves identifying and recommending how they might address the significant risks to achieving their objectives. Youll also facilitate workshops and support the embedding of management systems in member organisations, presenting at seminars and conferences. More directly youll be developing step by step guides to managing governance, risk and compliance challenges. In summary, your role can be broken into 3 pillars : (i) Research of Regulations, (ii) Drafting Risk Controls / Risk Policy & (iii) Communicating this via presentations / workshops, etc. Responsibilities Providing expert guidance to reduce risk and prevent claims, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation by offering tailored advice, identifying potential exposures and recommending proactive mitigation strategies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Developing and maintaining practical, evidence-based tools and systems to enhance risk management practices, including step-by-step guides, advisory sheets, and frameworks that are user-friendly, scalable, and adaptable to the specific needs of client organisations. Promoting strong governance by embedding best practice frameworks, ensuring that risk management and assurance processes are integrated into day-to-day operations, regularly reviewed, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations and organisational objectives. Aligning risk management activities with strategic goals, contributing to internal audits, compliance reviews, and the collection and analysis of risk-related data to inform reporting, support executive decision-making, and drive accountability across the business. Your Background Relevant Risk Management experience in any of the following areas; Governance, Risk and Compliance, Engineering, Information Security, Health and Safety or Insurance. Experience in a risk advisory, enterprise risk management, or governance role. Experience developing and implementing risk frameworks, tools, and policies. Familiarity with regulatory risk requirements and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO, public sector risk guidelines). Experience working in or with public sector, local government, or not-for-profit organisations is highly advantageous.
