ABOUT THE JOB Were hiring a highly organised Assistant Accountant to join our internal finance team. This is a broad and hands-on role that offers excellent exposure to all areas of finance operations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, youll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day processes and the delivery of accurate financial information to senior stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance who enjoys a mix of transactional responsibilities and reporting tasks. Youll be involved in everything from managing payments and reconciliations to supporting month-end close and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounts payable and receivable processes Prepare supplier payments and handle staff expense reimbursements Maintain accurate records across the general ledger and sub-ledgers Support monthly close procedures including journal postings and reconciliations Assist with preparation of internal management reports and financial summaries Liaise with internal departments and external vendors to resolve account queries Review and process staff expenses and credit card reconciliations Provide input into payroll data and assist with monthly payroll procedures Support the preparation of VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory returns Suggest and implement improvements to systems and financial processes Assist the Financial Controller with various reporting and finance projects YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years experience in a finance or accounting role Solid knowledge of finance operations, bookkeeping, and transactional processing Experience with accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger work Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) Comfortable working on reconciliations and supporting payroll and reporting activities Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively Clear communicator with a professional, collaborative approach Trustworthy and capable of handling confidential information responsibly Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative Part-qualified or currently studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus For further information on this opportunity or if you are considering the next step in your career get in touch with Chloe Neill at HireIQ in complete confidence.
