Job Title :       Specialist Counsellor

Hours : 2 days per week 9 am - 5pm

Contract :       Permanent

Salary :            Salary of   €52,142.40 pro-rata

The Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) is Ireland's leading sexual health provider. We provide a wide range of services in our Dublin medical clinics and nationwide counselling rooms, including specialist pregnancy counselling, abortion care and counselling, menopause, recurrent pregnancy loss and fertility counselling as well as sexual and reproductive health services, and education and training courses.

The IFPA is a pro-choice organisation and supports a person's decision in all cases. We are committed to advocating for every person in Ireland to access quality reproductive healthcare with dignity.

We are seeking suitably a qualified candidate to join our Counselling team in Galway city. The counsellor will provide clients with non-directive and non-judgmental counselling, support, and information. This includes information on all their options, including abortion care, parenting, and adoption. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Director of Counselling and where necessary, the IFPA clinical teams.

The successful applicant will require :

  • A counselling qualification of at least Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications, or equivalent.
  • Full Accreditation with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP), Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI), or equivalent. Pre Accreditation is not accepted
  • A working understanding of child protection and welfare regulations and protocols

Desirable :

  • Knowledge and experience in the provision of trauma-informed care
  • Some knowledge of pregnancy counselling, and sexual and reproductive health
  • An interest in sexual and reproductive healthcare
