Purpose of the Role :
To provide Health & Safety Governance and to ensure the business is legally complaint with all aspects of Health & Safety legislations
Reporting directly to the Group Head of Health & Safety and working as part of a wider team of H&S and related professionals.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities :
- Manage and maintain the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of all Health & Safety (H&S) policies and programs across the organization.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, including those for Sensitive Risk Groups across group functions, and ensure preventive and corrective control measures are implemented.
- Review and update existing policies and procedures in line with current legislation and regulatory changes.
- Lead the planning and delivery of H&S training programs (e.g. Confined Space, Fire Warden, First Aid) for employees.
- Perform daily audits across business units to identify hazards, issues, or non-conformances within operational areas.
- Record, investigate, and analyse incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented. Maintain accurate and comprehensive internal filing systems and data base.
- Maintain and update emergency response procedures for assigned business units; conduct regulatory emergency drills annually.
- Take a lead role in coaching and mentoring employees on all aspects of health and safety; promote wellness and mental health initiatives across the workforce.
- Prepare monthly reports for the Group Head of Health & Safety, including statistical analysis of LTIs, near misses, and LTIFR indicators.
- Provide H&S support across multi jurisdictional business units with a diverse, multicultural employee population of approximately 2,000 staff.
- Drive safety performance improvements and behavioural change in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies (e.g. Health & Safety Authority, EPA, An Gardai Siochana, Public Health, Local Councils) and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Collaborate with the People Team to support injury management and develop effective return to work plans.
- Lead H&S initiatives in collaboration with internal departments including Facilities, Maintenance, Transport, and Operations.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems and processes that support the overall H&S strategy across the organisation.
- Conduct out of hours audits and inspections, including emergency response preparedness across a 7 day operational schedule occasionally.
Additional Responsibilities
Coordinate H&S committee meetings, toolbox talks, and internal H&S communications.Oversee risk management strategies and cross-auditing processes across business units, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Provide day to day support to the Group Head of Health & Safety in managing all aspects of H&S across the Group function.Key Skills & Knowledge
Essential :
Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety roleStrong working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, regulations and industry best practices.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel for reporting, data analysis, and documentation.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, cross functional environment.Demonstrated ability in preparing clear, concise, and accurate safety reports and documentation.Flexible and willing to work outside normal business hours as operational needs require.Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.Self motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic FMCG manufacturing environment.Proactive problem-solver with strong decision-making skills and a continuous improvement mindset.Education & Qualifications :
