On behalf of a Connacht Region University Hospital in Ireland, Head Medical are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in General Medicine to join their dynamic and growing medical team. This role is not a substantive post but will be a relatively long contract of 12 months with a view of going permanent .

This University Hospital is an acute regional general hospital under the Health Service Executive, managed by the Saolta University Health Care Group. Total bed capacity is 359.

Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality medical care in General Medicine to patients at this University Hospital.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.
Supervise and mentor junior doctors and medical trainees.

Participate in on-call duties as per the hospital’s rota.
Contribute to teaching and training programmes for medical students and postgraduate trainees.
Requirements to Apply
Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in General (Internal) Medicine must be active and in place to secure an interview
Extensive post-graduate Consultant experience in General Medicine.
Desirable
Experience in a subspecialty area of General Medicine.
Proven track record in medical research and clinical teaching.
Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.
Participation in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives.
