The Hermitage Clinic is a private hospital providing a full range of medical and surgical care across a broad spectrum of specialities. The Radiology department at Hermitage Clinic provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures delivered in state of the art facilities by a team of experienced professionals committed to excellence in clinical standards and patient care. The department has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 2007 and now performs more than 60,000 diagnostic and interventional examinations per year of an increasing range and complexity. With an experienced team of 10 consultant radiologists and over 50 employees including radiographers, assistants, nursing and administrative staff and the latest in CT and MR technology soon to be installed, this is an opportune time to join a team of highly skilled individuals dedicated to delivering a first class cross sectional imaging service.
About the role
The Senior Radiographer role will include undertaking MR scanning procedures of patients using a highly specialised skilled set. It will also include acting as an information resource for junior colleagues, delivering high standards of clinical practice and skills in Radiology.
Duties will include :
Clinical, Scientific and Technical
- Undertake all MR scanning procedures and to maintain a highly specialist standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care in accordance with departmental and national protocols and procedures
- Maintain full safety standards in MR.
- Keep abreast of latest technical and scientific advancements within the cross sectional field
- Efficient and effective use of equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any faults to the Clinical Specialist and / or the Radiology Services Manager
- Participate in implementation of new technology and service developments
- Be aware of the department's Local Rules and MR safety policies and to instruct other members of staff in safe practices
Policy Service Development and Implementation
Be familiar with and understand the Clinic's policies and procedures in relation to Infection Control, Fire, Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend mandatory trainingParticipate in the implementation of clinical procedures, protocols and work instructionsTeaching and Training
Maintain up to date knowledge of cross sectional imaging and developments in line with CPD requirementsParticipate in instruction and training of radiographer staff as commensurate with the role.Research and Development
Support clinical research as requiredParticipate in audit within clinical radiology including the use of audit and audit tools in order to deliver service improvement initiativesSupport research in accordance with Ethics Committee approval, Clinical Governance criteriaPerformance of Duties
Utilise department protocols and set standards to continually undertake MRI procedures of the highest qualityExecute duties courteously and professionally at all times and seek to ensure that the highest level of customer service is provided by the Radiology departmentParticipate in weekend duties as requiredAttend training courses pertaining to MRIPerform other appropriate duties which may be required from time-to-time by the Radiology Service ManagerProfessional
Abide by the Code of Professional ConductMaintain state registration with CORUMaintain confidentiality in relation to all information regarding patients in accordance with the Clinic's Data Protection PoliciesManage and Maintain the Continuing Professional Development process and awareness of current and new techniquesExcellent communication skills needed to liaise with both staff within the department, throughout the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians.Qualifications :
BSc in Radiography or hold a DCR
CORU registered
Postgraduate qualification in MR is desirable
Experience :
Minimum of four years' experience in MRI scanning
Qualified to administer I.V. contrast
Familiar with a computerised patient information system and PACS
Knowledge :
Thorough understanding of legislation relating to MR Health & Safety
Understand the requirements of and promote CPD
Desirable Qualifications / Experience :
