An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team.

This role is important for IBAT College and will play a vital role in optimising the College’s commercial operations and income-generating activities. This is very much a strategic role, focused on identifying new opportunities, enhancing existing services and ensuring extremely high standards of delivery across external partnerships.

In this role, you will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external clients to align commercial outcomes with the College’s broader educational goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Develop the College’s commercial strategy in line our organisational goals
  • Identify new revenue-generating opportunities
  • Prepare business cases as required to support investment and growth
  • Lead the sales team, introducing new processes, techniques, KPIs and performance management
  • Ensure efficient day-today operations and a high-quality customer experience
  • Develop and manage relationships with external partners, increasing our B2B activities
  • Drive improvements in service delivery, sustainability and profitability
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with external partners
  • Work closely with academic and professional teams to explore innovation and new collaborations
  • Ensure all activities comply with College policies, regulations and relevant legislation

Assess and manage commercial risks, including reputational and financial factors

Skills, qualification and key attributes :

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a commercial management or business development role, ideally in an educational environment (but not essential)
  • Possess strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting and profit / loss management
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse data, using it to make informed decisions and implement improvements
  • Comfortable working across a complex organisation, working closely with varied stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with library cataloguing systems and basic knowledge of library classification is desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Workspace apps
  • The post holder may be asked to undertake different or additional duties in line with business requirements at the request of their line manager.

    There may be an occasional need to undertake business travel between other sites within Ireland, and across the UK
