Position Overview :
The VP / Controller will be responsible for management and oversight of the day-to-day accounting, operational and financial aspects of the Company’s Luxemburg SICAV and Australian Feeders. In this position, the VP / Controller will manage a team of accountants and various external fund administrators. The VP / Controller will also work closely with the StepStone AIFM, legal / compliance and private equity, private debt, real assets and venture capital investment teams.
Essential Functions :
- Assist with Offering Memorandum updates
- Manage quarterly board reporting package preparation
- Participate in quarterly board meetings
- Oversee weekly / monthly investment valuation analytics and reporting for each compartment
- Prepare monthly NAV reporting for management
- Oversight of budgets and forecasts, including updates and analysis of TER
- Review and approval of all work prepared by team members and fund administrators
- Assist with preparation of semi-annual unaudited and annual audited financial in accordance with Lux GAAP
- Monitor and assist with preparation of CSSF regulatory reporting
- Coordinate preparation of annual audits with outside CPA firm
- Coordinate and oversee preparation of tax reporting
- Manage reporting requirements, determination of borrowing base and covenants for credit facility
- Ensure SPI data is accurate, up to date and all inputs are consistent with fund administrator / custody records
- Ensure all investments and expenses are funded timely
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and effective
- Oversee creation of operational infrastructure and documentation of process and procedures
- Understand offering memorandums and ensure all requirements are met
- Manage financial and accounting aspects of annual distributions and quarterly investor redemptions
- Manage relationships with all service providers
Support the investment team, which includes :
Managing the valuation processProviding support for KYA information and other documentation needed for new investmentsUnderstanding the structure of new investments, including the reporting and tax implicationsReviewing legal agreementsOversee Treasury management functions, including :
Approvals of wire templates and wiresMonitor the Fund’s cash positions and prepare cash projections as neededManage the Fund’s line of credit facilities, including arranging borrowings and repayment, quarterly compliance certificates, review of interest and unused fee calculationsManage a team of accounting professionals, including :
Managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting teamCoordinating the work of the accountants to ensure the consistency and quality of work producedMentoring and training team membersReview all work prepared by the teamCoordinate deliverables across the team to ensure deadlines are metPerform other duties as required, including but not limited to :
Accumulation and review of K-1s provided by GPsCoordination and review of tax returnsSet up of new Funds, as needed, including obtaining EIN, tax filings, opening bank accountsSupport for the compliance reportingLead department level projects or initiativesEvaluate foreign currency hedging and implement program as neededEducation and / or Work Experience Requirements :
Minimum of ten years of private partnership, private markets or related accounting experience with several years in a management or leadership role.Ideal candidates will have experience with Luxembourg registered fundsBig 4 public accounting experience focused on audits of alternative investment funds preferredExperience with accounting for alternative assetsExperience with private market structuresMust possess a four-year college degree with a major in AccountingExperience working in a fast paced and growing company with demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlinesKnowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements :
