Job Title : Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

Location : Dublin

Job Type : Full-Time / Permanent

Sector : Building Services / M&E Consultancy

Role Overview : We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Building Services Consultancy team in Ireland. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the delivery of mechanical design solutions on a range of high-profile construction projects across commercial, healthcare, educational, and residential sectors.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead mechanical design from concept through to completion on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers and CAD / Revit technicians.
  • Conduct detailed mechanical engineering analysis and simulations (e.g. HVAC, piping, thermal modelling).
  • Perform site inspections and liaise with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure design compliance with Irish building regulations, CIBSE, IS EN standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, architectural) to deliver coordinated solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings and present technical solutions to clients.
  • Manage workloads, project timelines, and budgets.
  • Provide input into proposals, feasibility studies, and sustainability assessments (e.g., BER / Part L / LEED / BREEAM compliance).

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Level 8 or higher).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Chartered or working toward chartership (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, water services, ventilation, and heating systems.
  • Proficient in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES-VE, Hevacomp or similar.
  • Experience with Irish and EU building codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Full driving licence (preferred).
