Irish Lights is recruiting for a Governance and Compliance Manager to join the senior management team.
Based at the Irish Lights headquarters in Dun Laoghaire, the successful candidate will be key to ensuring that its governance, compliance and risk processes continue to operate at the highest standards of practice and ethics across the organisation.
Irish Lights is a statutory maritime all-island organisation, whose history began over 200 years ago, delivering an essential 24 / 7 safety and navigation service around the coast of Ireland, protecting the marine environment and supporting the marine industry and coastal communities.
Irish Lights is a public body, funded through the General Lighthouse Fund with reporting relationships to the Irish Department of Transport (DoT) and the UK Department for Transport (DfT).
In line with the organisation’s mission to be a leading and innovative provider of reliable, efficient and cost-effective navigation and maritime services for the safety of all, Irish Lights works closely with sister organisations Trinity House and the Northern Lighthouse Board in the UK to implement a coordinated approach to governance and risk management across the diverse range of its activities.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services with additional responsibilities to support the CEO as Accounting Officer, the Governance and Compliance Manager will manage and report on the corporate governance and compliance systems, and processes to meet the requirements of the board, the audit and risk committee and key stakeholders in Ireland and the UK. The post holder will also support the board and senior executives in fulfilling their obligations.
As a member of the senior management team, the key functional responsibilities will include :
Candidates must be professionally qualified with a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in corporate governance, legal or risk related discipline or have extensive relevant experience covering all aspects and requirements of the role.
Ideally, the candidates will have experience in a public sector organisation working with CEO and a board of non-executive members.
