Job description

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative Distribution Manager to oversee the smooth running of our busy European Distribution Centre and play a key part in managing our team and supporting our pharmaceutical clients' critical supply chains.

Key Responsibilities :

Warehouse Management

  • Oversee the daily workload and performance of warehouse operations in accordance with the business’ requirements and KPI’s.
  • Ensure successful collaboration with the wider EDC team and other internal BU / support function stakeholders to support smooth receiving, storage, and dispatch processes.
  • Develop and oversee a schedule of adherence metrics for key compliance activities in the warehouse e.g. inbound, outbound, returns process
  • Support and monitor PPM schedule adherence and the management of contractors on site
  • Act as SME for the equipment and monitoring systems on site including BMS, HVAC & Elpro
  • Support shipping validation scheduling / execution requirements

Distribution Logistics

  • Support the team with advice on planning and executing last-mile deliveries with adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee shipment tracking and support issue resolution related to delays or non-conformities.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure site adherence to GMP / GDP standards and internal SOPs across all supply chain activities.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and lead on improvement initiatives in collaboration with other internal / external stakeholders for the site and wider group
  • Proactively manage work on QMS records including ensuring that non-conformances, change records and CAPAs are actioned and resolved in good time.
  • Support documentation updates including new SOP generation.
  • Lead the EDC site audit readiness program and audit tours as required.
  • Strictly adhere to all company safety policies and act as a H&S champion, proactively supporting new and existing safety programs
  • Demand & Resource Planning

  • Work closely with the Planning Manager to assist in forecasting demand in collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support site resource planning and allocation to meet service levels and client KPIs.
  • Implement on the floor visual tools to enable the day to day resource management across Inbound and Outbound.
  • Inventory Management

  • Site oversight for monitoring stock levels, reorder points, and shelf-life-sensitive products, working closely with the Inventory team
  • Participate in cycle counts, stock reconciliation, and inventory optimization activities.
  • Become a system SME on Oracle to comfortably troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • People Management

  • Build and manage a high-performing, collaborative team that works in line with the Group’s values at all times
  • Provide direction and guidance to direct reports in managing their daily work priorities and that of their teams
  • Ensure the appropriate level of resource and expertise is in place and that this is structured in the most effective way to deliver the strategy
  • Support the Distribution Director with the site people plan, to include :
  • Ensuring that the team have clear objectives and development plans in place
  • Planning for talent management, succession planning and retention
  • Providing regular feedback to direct and indirect reports
  • Proactively address underperformance
  • Recognise and celebrate success on a team and individual level
  • Ensure all training is complete on time.
  • Ensure effective communication of key messages to the team from across the Group
  • Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or STEM subject
  • Prior experience of working to GDP / GMP standards is advantageous
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare logistics sector is desirable for this role
  • Demonstrable people management experience, with a willingness to support developing teams, is essential
  • Previous ERP systems experience, particularly Oracle, is advantageous for this position
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proactive and motivated approach, with a view to implement continuous improvement and best practice processes
