Position Description ESB Trading delivers essential asset optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access to ESB Group and to its third-party customers.
ESB Trading is organised into a number of teams comprising Front, Middle (Risk Management) and Back Offices along with Finance, Modelling and Business Support.
The Back Office function comprising of two teams (Commodity Operations and Complex Contracts) is responsible for :
Managing all ESB energy trading related payments and receivablesManaging the associated external and internal communications and any exception resolutionProviding an independent confirmation, monitoring, validation and recording function for energy tradingManaging all ESB energy regulation trade reporting for EMIR and REMITManaging the development of settlement and reporting solutions for on-boarding new counterparties, product types and bespoke contracts.The role of Commodity Operations Manager provides an excellent opportunity to lead a team of professionals responsible for the delivery of back office services to both the ESB Generation & Trading and Customer Solutions businesses.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will play a key role as part of the wider ESB Trading management team and will be involved in a range of activities including :
Leading a team responsible for commodity trades, long term gas and power agreements, gas transportation capacity & gas balancing and financial regulatory reportingPro-actively supporting and developing the capabilities of the Commodity Operations teamManaging the performance of the Commodity Operations team to ensure excellent service provision to internal and external customersDriving process improvement initiatives for Back Office and across ESB TradingEngaging positively with both internal and external stakeholders to foster collaborative relationshipsEnsuring a robust control framework exists and is operating for the Commodity Operations processesPlaying an active role in shaping both ESB Trading and Back Office strategy and business planning activitiesExperience and Qualifications The successful candidate should possess the following :
Minimum of 7 years relevant experienceIt is expected that the successful candidate will possess a recognised relevant financial qualification either professional or third level or equivalent relevant work experienceAbility to respond to change within a fast-changing business environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsTeam playerProven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlinesStrong technical and financial knowledgeAn understanding of energy markets including financial regulation reporting (EMIR, REMIT)SAP experienceLocation This position will be based in ESB Head Office, Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2.
