Title of Job : Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator / Student Allocation Liaison Officer Grade : CNM II Key reporting relationships : NPD CNM3 Assistant Director of Nursing Director of Nursing Reports to : Nurse Practice Development Co-ordinator / NPD CNM 3 Type of Contract : Permanent - Part Time Purpose of the Role The Clinical Placement Co-ordinator (CPC) post is to plan, organise, support, evaluate & record the undergraduate student nurses' supernumerary and internship clinical placements, as part of their respective undergraduate BSc Nursing Programme. The CPC has the responsibility for promoting a positive clinical learning environment, guiding and supporting student nurses in assigned clinical areas to ensure that all clinical placements meet the requirements and standards with regard to planned experiences and outcomes for the undergraduate BSc in Nursing programmes. Responsibility to liaise with the appropriate staff within Bon Secours, Temple Street Children's University Hospital, other hospitals as appropriate and the third level institutions, i.e. Dublin City University, in relation to the allocation of Student Nurses to clinical placements. To encourage the application of nursing theory to nursing practice and participate in introducing changes in practice / projects that will improve patient care and staff / student learning Professional / clinical leadership which promotes patient advocacy continuous improvements in care, teamwork and innovation Supervision and coaching of student nurses whilst maintaining a safe working environment. Organisation of student nurse education and participation in teaching, guidance and training of qualified staff Education resource (clinical and theoretical) for members of the multidisciplinary team Facilitation of communication across Nursing Practice Development, the organisation and outside agencies Essential Qualifications Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register with NMBI Essential Experience 5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital within the last 7 years With a minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience, working with undergraduate BSc nursing students Educated to Degree / Post Graduate Diploma / Higher Diploma or equivalent level Desirable Experience Management Course Have evidence of continuing professional development Demonstrate management / in charge experience throughout the last 2 years Essential Technical / Clinical Competencies Technical / Clinical Competencies Demonstrate IT skills Experience in teaching and assessing the Nursing and HCA Team throughout the last 2 years Desirable Technical / Clinical Competencies Experience in conducting clinical audits Essential Behavioural Competencies People Management Leadership and personal motivation skills Quality Service Continuous Learning & Development Awareness of the role and scope of the CNM2.
