Director of Engineering

The Role : As Director of Software Engineering, you will be a strategic leader and hands-on technologist managing a team of 14-20 talented engineers. You'll champion best-in-class engineering practices, oversee delivery aligned with product roadmaps, and cultivate an agile environment to accelerate time-to-market. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners, you'll drive innovation, team growth, and continuous improvement across their software portfolio. Key Responsibilities : - Hire, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of growth and excellence - Lead full-stack software development teams focused on nimble, value-driven delivery - Drive innovation across Architecture, Database, Engineering, and DevOps, balancing performance, scalability, and business impact - Promote a transparent, collaborative culture where teams are empowered to do their best work - Collaborate with executives and product teams to deliver high-quality products solving real-world challenges - Enhance agile processes and introduce modern development practices to boost quality and velocity - Mentor engineers and new managers to grow their skills and tackle complex projects - Remove blockers and improve team efficiency through tooling, automation, and operational best practices - Facilitate cross-team coordination for complex, multi-disciplinary features Candidate Requirements : - Proven leadership experience : 5+ years in software development management, with at least 1 year as Director or above managing 10+ engineers - Strong technical background in object-oriented programming (Java, C#, C++, or similar) - Expertise in Lean / Kanban methodologies and agile frameworks - Excellent communication skills with ability to lead remote and cross-functional teams - Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to solving complex problems - Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field Preferred Experience : - 3+ years managing in Lean Software Development environments - Experience in payments or fintech sectors is advantageous but not essential Why Apply?
