Job Title : Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Location : Nursing Home (various locations across Ireland) - Laois, Dublin & Tipperary
Reports to : Director of Nursing (DON)
Hours : Full-time, typically 37.5–40 hours per week
Role Summary :
The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in managing the overall delivery of high-quality nursing care in the nursing home. The ADON plays a key leadership role in clinical governance, staff management, and ensuring compliance with HIQA standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Clinical Leadership : Ensure the highest standards of nursing care are delivered to residents.Oversee clinical practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Support the implementation of care plans and risk assessments.
- Staff Management : Supervise, mentor, and support nursing and care staff.Assist in recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff.Conduct performance reviews and manage staff rosters.
- Quality & Compliance : Ensure adherence to HIQA standards and internal policies.Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Resident & Family Engagement : Promote a person-centred approach to care.Act as a point of contact for residents and families regarding care concerns.
- Operational Support : Deputise for the Director of Nursing as required.Assist in budget management and resource allocation.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
Qualifications & Experience :
Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) .Minimum 3 years’ experience in elderly care , with at least 2 years in a senior nursing role .A postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management or equivalent is often desirable.Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.For further information please contact Keelin on - /
