Job description

Our client,

a fast-growing main construction contractor, is seeking an Intermediate EHS Advisor to join their team in Carlow . With a diverse portfolio spanning Commercial, Residential, and Pharma projects, this role offers a mix of on-site audits and office-based responsibilities. It’s an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy site visits and are eager to grow under the guidance of a Senior H&S Manager.

Responsibilities

Site Audits & Inspections

  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Address deficiencies with site supervisors and recommend improvements, reporting to the EHS Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of all statutory inspections.

Health & Safety Inductions & Meetings

  • Deliver thorough H&S induction programs for new employees and contractors.
  • Advise on and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Organize and lead H&S meetings with contractors and subcontractors to discuss safety procedures and updates.
  • Safety Plans & Equipment

  • Assist site management in preparing and communicating Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Compile, update, and disseminate site Emergency Plans.
  • Inspect and ensure the maintenance of site safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • Documentation & Compliance

  • Gather and organize information for the Safety File, ensuring it’s ready for client handover at project completion.
  • Support ISO audit compliance and processes.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and actively participate in departmental meetings to promote safety practices.
  • Liaison & Coordination

  • Collaborate with main contractors and their safety teams to align safety protocols.
  • Work with management to identify and address training requirements.
  • Requirements

  • Education : Third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
  • Experience : Minimum of 2 years in an EHS role, ideally within construction or civil contracting.
  • Certifications : Valid SAFE Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
  • Licensing : Full Irish driving license.
  • Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong multitasking abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
