Job Title : Psychologist
6 months Fixed Term Contract, Full-time 35 hours per week

Job Purpose :
The purpose of the role is to develop and implement psychological interventions that meet individual service-users’ needs by providing holistic assessment and direct support and guidance to service-users and staff alike.

Job Area
Support Planning – Support students / service users and the staff that support them to identify personal goals and learning, social, emotional, cognitive needs. Support students / service users to prepare for Individual Action Plan (IAP) or Person-Centred Planning meetings. Contribute to intake assessments.
Psychological Assessment – Undertake appropriate psychological assessments using data from psychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect observations and interviews with students / service users and other stakeholders where appropriate. Summarise the results of clinical assessments in professional and accessible reports in line with professional standards and the intended audience.
Psychological Intervention & Support – Design and implement high-quality, formulation-driven psychological interventions, therapies and supports based on appropriate conceptual frameworks, established evidence-based practice and Rehab Groups commitment to the principles of recovery, co-production, equality, diversity, dignity and respect. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological interventions and make adjustments as necessary. Present recommendations in professional and accessible manner in line with professional standards and the intended audience. Be aware of and refer students / service users to other external clinical services where appropriate. Develop and work within a stepped care model including inter-agency work and service delivery.
Practice Support & Systems Level Intervention – Provide support, regular consultation and guidance to staff to help them deliver high-quality support in line with best practice. Design and deliver training to staff to support and ensure good practice e.g., in the areas of mental health, education, rehabilitation etc.
Clinical Supervision - Provide regular and scheduled supervision and training to Rehabilitation Officers, Trainee Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists, including supervision and support in between scheduled sessions as needed.
Internal & External Relationships - Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across functions and regions and within the interdisciplinary team. Communicate effectively and work in co-operation with other team members and others to ensure integrated service provision. Foster an understanding of the role and contribution of psychology by providing professional consultation, education, guidance and support to others as appropriate. Liaise with stakeholders as appropriate, to include families, professionals, and external agencies.
Quality Improvement Initiatives & Project Work - Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and other working groups related to the work of the psychology team (including influencing and contributing to the development & review of relevant policies, procedures & programmes within the organisation). Contribute to other relevant processes where necessary e.g., audit, service evaluation and review systems; service planning initiatives & business development proposals etc.
Governance & Quality Assurance – Identify, assess, monitor and manage risks within each psychologist’s area of responsibility and escalate these where appropriate to the respective Senior / Principal Psychologist, thus ensuring appropriate governance and quality assurance of psychological services. Collect and collate metrics and performance indicators relevant to the delivery of professional clinical services in order to support ongoing service evaluation, quality assurance and governance activities.
Research & Evaluation – Conduct research that aligns with Rehab’s strategic vision and priorities. Promote a culture that values evidence-based practice and designs services based on this framework; publish & disseminate research results and innovative practice externally. Present at conferences and other events to showcase the work of NLN and Rehab Group. Establish Rehab Group as an expert and leader in the field.
Operational Environment
This Psychologist role is a multi-site role based in the below locations :
NLN Donegal, NLN Sligo and NLN Leitrim.
