Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The hands-on implementation of the day-to-day maintenance on the motorway

To carry out routine maintenance activities including :

Landscaping / grass cutting / weed control

Litter collection

Accident damage repair (e.g., boundary fence repairs, concrete repairs)

Cleaning road furniture (e.g., signs, bridges)

Traffic management

Driving winter maintenance vehicles

Completing patrols of the road

General maintenance duties

Keep accurate records of tasks completedTo provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours emergency responses.To undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications / Education / Training

Essential to the role :

• 2nd level education
• Valid Safe Pass holder
• Valid Category B driving licence

Desirable to the role :

Category C driving licence

DE or CE category driving licence(s)

Valid Driver CPC card

Up-to-date training / qualifications in Traffic Management

Experience /  Knowledge

Essential to the role :

Relevant experience with a background in construction or farming

Experience in one or more of the routine maintenance activities listed above

An understanding of and commitment to health and safety practices and principles

Desirable to the role :

Experience in a similar role maintaining roads

Experience of road construction

Experience of traffic management, particularly on high-speed roads

Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices used in performing road maintenance activities

Skills / Abilities

Essential to the role :

Good standard of written and spoken English
