The Toast Web Platform team plays a key role in enabling product teams to build and ship high-quality web experiences at scale.
We own the tooling, build systems, frontend CLI, microfrontend architecture, and web developer experience that support hundreds of SPAs across the company.
This team is deeply technical and platform-oriented.
While we own some product surfaces (like navigation and homepage), our primary mission is to elevate how the frontend is built at Toast.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about modern frontend development, has strong systems thinking, and wants to make a huge impact on how hundreds of developers build for the web.
About this roll
Lead the evolution of our shared frontend build system (Webpack, Vite, etc.
Drive improvements in our microfrontend architecture and toolingEnhancing our Node.js-based frontend CLI, scaffolding tools, and shared testing configBuilding internal tools to improve developer observability, debugging, and performancePartnering with other frontend teams to gather feedback, identify friction, and address gaps in our platformMonitoring the health and performance of deployed web apps using tools like DataDog, Splunk, and custom telemetryShape org-wide best practices forfrontend architecture, testing, and release workflowsDo you have the right ingredients
Requirements) 5+ years of professional experience in software development, ideally in frontend or web platform rolesStrong experience with React, TypeScript, and frontend build systemsExperience with Node.js, particularly in building dev tools and CLIsExposure to backend systems (Java / Kotlin preferred) and understanding of API interactionsA platform mindset — you're motivated by removing friction and enabling othersComfortable navigating ambiguity and working across many teams to drive alignmentBonus : experience with microfrontend patterns, shared testing infrastructure, or GraphQL federation Our Spread
