The IT Data Analyst will play a pivotal role within the Hospital IT team, delivering critical clinical, operational and financial reporting that informs strategic decision-making up to board level and supports operational excellence across all hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Data Analysis and Reporting : Design, build and deploy Power BI reports to meet the diverse needs of hospital departments, delivering actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Partner with teams across the organisation to ensure consistent and reliable reporting practices. Work with business owners to clearly define their report requirements and objectives, and design data solutions that align with strategic goals and drive measurable outcomes.
- Automation & Efficiency : Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency gains. Leverage tools such as Power BI & Python to automate and streamline processes and reports.
- Data Literacy & Education : Enhance organisational data literacy by conducting training sessions and mentoring staff on Data Analytics tools and best practices. Promote proper data entry protocols to improve the quality and utility of hospital system data.
- Data Integration : Identify and integrate diverse data sources, developing innovative methods to address data limitations and ensure a cohesive, comprehensive view of key metrics.
- Quality Assurance & Data Governance : Uphold accuracy and reliability in reporting; work with stakeholders to confirm the data is correct at source and provide recommendations to correct data when errors & inconsistencies are noticed. Align with team policies with respect to governance to ensure appropriate access is provided and reports are compliant with GDPR.
- Team Development : Support and mentor junior team members, fostering their growth through ongoing code review and feedback.
- Communication : Exhibit a clear and articulate communication style to effectively convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Develop compelling narratives to tell data stories and influence and inform your audience.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Maths, or Engineering or other quantitative subjects. Master's degree desirable.Experience
At least 3 years' previous experience in a Data Analyst role.High level of proficiency in SQL (2 + years).High level of proficiency with a market-leading business intelligence tool (Power BI or Tableau).Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for statistical analysis and data processing.Experience with an ETL tool (SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Factory etc.).Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge
