Job description

We’re currently working with a leading international insurance and assistance provider to recruit a Group Underwriter for their Dublin-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-respected global organisation with a strong footprint in the international health and life insurance market.

The successful candidate will play a key role in underwriting corporate insurance schemes, supporting both new business and renewals. This position also involves collaboration with internal stakeholders, pricing analysis, reporting, and participation in strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate and issue quotes for group insurance schemes in line with internal underwriting guidelines, pricing methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse claims experience and risk trends to forecast future liabilities and inform premium setting.
  • Provide underwriting support throughout renewals and tenders in collaboration with Sales and Relationship Management teams.
  • Prepare and present utilisation reports with performance commentary and trend analysis.
  • Act as a technical referral point for complex underwriting queries across the business.
  • Make sound and independent underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
  • Represent the underwriting function on cross-functional projects.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards for documentation, audit, and governance.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to underwriting-related queries from internal teams.
  • Maintain activity reporting and performance tracking for senior leadership.

Candidate Profile :

  • Degree in actuarial science, mathematics or similar
  • Experience in an underwriting role, pricing or data centered role within health or life insurance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Experience in dealing with large corporate clients and complex schemes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain and defend decisions.
  • Prior experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues is a plus.
