About the role and the team At eBay, we deal with petabytes of data that is processed, queried, visualized, and analyzed at a rapid pace.

Data & Metrics is responsible for building and operating a secure, highly available, fully automated, cloud-native, online streaming, and offline analytics platform following Data Mesh architecture to meet these data needs.

If you are familiar with Java, data structures, OO programming, algorithms, and have experience in big data or open-source contributions, we encourage you to join us.

What you will accomplish Design entire solutions independently for business challenges or products; coach and guide team members in implementation.

Collaborate with senior technical members, product managers, architects, and engineering teams to ensure quality and efficiency in product delivery.

Define, design, and enforce industrial best practices in an innovative and scalable manner within eBay's environment.

Communicate and present ideas effectively to all levels of management, technical and non-technical audiences.

Foster energy and questions that drive ideation and creative design, encouraging higher-level thinking.

What you will bring BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in CS, EE, or equivalent.

6+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in big data or machine learning.

Strong problem-solving skills and ambition.

Deep knowledge of Java or Python; web development skills and middleware like Spring Boot, databases, caches; and big data tech stacks such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka.

Clean coding habits, attention to detail, and focus on quality and best practices.

Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Open-source contribution experience is a plus.

Experience working in a multinational company is a plus.
