An expanding first-opinion small animal practice in Carlow is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly and dedicated team. About the Role
Hours : 42.5 hours / week across 5 days
Weekends : 1 in 5 Saturdays
No Out-of-Hours : No Sundays, bank holidays, or on-call duties
Caseload : Small animal focus with varied daily duties across consultations, inpatient care, and theatre work
This role offers an excellent mix of surgical nursing, inpatient monitoring, and client interaction. You'll be encouraged to pursue your interests and contribute to patient care in a meaningful, hands-on way.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in surgery, monitor anaesthesia, and maintain surgical safety
Deliver nurse consultations and provide client education on preventative health
Monitor and care for hospitalised patients, administering medications and supporting recovery
Work collaboratively with the clinical team to ensure the highest standard of care
Who We're Looking For
Registered with the VCI or eligible for registration
New graduates welcome full support and mentorship provided
Strong work ethic, empathy for clients, and a team-focused attitude
Willingness to continue developing clinical skills and knowledge

This practice is located just minutes from Carlow town centre, with easy access to Dublin and Waterford via the motorway. It operates from a spacious, modern facility and is fully equipped with :
Gas anaesthesia
