PositionNeurology - EpilepsyRegistrar AssignmentDepartment of Neurology, St. Jamess Hospital Commencement DateMonday, 14th July 2025 MED Directorate The Medicine and Emergency Directorate, (MED), which includes all specialties in Internal Medicine, was established in2014 and has consolidated all specialties of medicine within a single clinical governance structure. Its mission, aims and objectives focus on safety, (zero harm), quality, (excellent outcomes), patient experience, access and flow. The Directorate has agreed a clinically-led management cycle for continuous improvement for adoption across its specialties. Clinical Specialty Leads have been appointed with a common structure and data-driven approach to specialty and directorate operations meetings. Department ofClinical Neurophysiology The neurology department diagnoses and treats patients with the entire range of neurological disorders. We provide a busy outpatient and day ward service, a focused inpatient service and a busy consult service to advise on neurological issues across all medical and surgical specialties. The department has a particular interest in teaching and an active research staff. The Epilepsy Registrars role is to work as part of a multidisciplinary team across the Epilepsy service which is the largest division in the neurology Department. The service offers a range of ambulatory and inpatient services including virtual care and is a leader in digital health using a national EPR. Our service focuses on data driven service provision, patient centered care, pediatric transition and womens health in epilepsy, Outreach services to marginalized communities, patient safety and quality improvement and also strengths within the department. We have strong links to the national Epilepsy Surgery Service in Beaumont and also to the SFI research Centre FutureNeuro in RCSI. The post would suit candidates with an interest in and prior training in epilepsy but this latter experience is not a requirement. Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and / or experience Applicants are expected to have completed Basic Specialty Training in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery or Intensive Care Medicine. Possession of a post-graduate qualification (eg MCEM, MRCS, MRCP), will be advantageous to the candidate, but is not a requirement for the post. Core requirements for this post include : a demonstrable commitment to medicine, good decision making, a broad clinical knowledge base and appropriate clinical skills, awareness of patient safety and risk management issues and the ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.
