The Senior Structural Engineer will form part of the Asset Management / Design team. He / she will be expected to manage and organise the inspection and certification of existing structural assets and temporary works to meet legislative and relevant Health and Safety requirements. He / she will be expected to consider whole lifecycle activities in the development of design and construction of new and refurbishment structural projects. He / she will be required to manage consultants and contractors employed by the company. Civil and Structural Design / Asset Management Manage the development of the company Asset Management System Manage and update the Asset Management database Develop and manage a programme of Asset Management inspections for the company Undertake inspections, surveys, studies and evaluations of proposed projects and draw up associated reports. Manage construction projects to budget and within agreed timescales. Assist in the preparation of works programmes and budgets informed by asset inspections Manage the supervision of site works. Report on progress of projects. Procure and manage consultants and contractors in line with European Procurement Law. Overcome obstacles to quality service delivery. Assist with the design of projects to the appropriate legal and professional standards. Assist with the final design, drawings and contract papers. Work as a member of the Asset Management / Structural design team to bring forward the capital works projects to programme and budget. Dealing with Environmental Issues Collaborate with environmental bodies to ensure that environmental requirements are adhered to. Take account of environmental legislation, directives and issues in the management of construction and maintenance of projects. Health and Safety Contribute to and comply with the companies Health and Safety policy and arrangements. Take into account health and safety requirements and issues when designing or managing projects. Assist with the production of health and safety statements. Assist with the development of risk assessment engineering as a standard practice for all work undertaken Strategic Assist with company policies, strategies and standards; contributing to the creation of a shared aim for the Body and promoting company culture and values. Provide information to allow financial and progress reports for projects under your control to be drawn up. Assist with the development of methods, processes and systems to enhance productivity Promote asset management practices throughout the organisation People Comply at all times with the regulations and standards of the company. Instruct, develop and manage engineering staff working within the Asset Management team to enhance performance and meet company objectives. Create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships internal and external to the company. Work effectively with other members of the Engineering team. Liaise with other disciplines and units within the company. Liaise with community and local organisations. Liaise with relevant statutory authorities. Develop training programmes. Complete staff reports. Other Deal with any matter as requested by the Chief Executive. Assist with queries forwarded to the company. Represent the company at meetings / functions both during and outside normal working hours. Comply with and actively promote the company policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
