Accountabilities :

  • Lead, build, organize, and empower a BPM medical affairs team to support Therapeutic Area portfolios.
  • Actively seek opportunities for healthcare support solutions by working closely with external collaborators.
  • Define, lead, and implement comprehensive Medical Plans aligned with Global Plans.
  • Design and validate objectives, plans, and budgets for areas under responsibility.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership and optimize partnerships within BPM Medical Affairs.
  • Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca values and applicable regulations.
  • Represent Ireland in regional forums and report back to Head of Medical and TA medical teams.
  • Pipeline planning and resource management.
  • Analyze products for potential patient benefits and local implementation.
  • Medical review and approval of plans, projects, and materials.
  • Congress' planning support and oversight of medical plans for key data readouts.
  • Manage, coach, and monitor team performance in line with organizational values.
  • Support team development aligned with business and individual needs.
  • Integrate, interpret, and disseminate scientific evidence to support brand strategy.
  • Find opportunities to generate evidence for AZ products and disease state management.
  • Act as the patient insight expert in assigned disease and therapeutic area teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapeutic area developments.

Essential Skills / Experience :

  • Advanced Relevant Scientific Degree or equivalent experience (PhD MD DVM PharmD MSc or MPharm)
  • Clinical and scientific experience related to CVRM, Respiratory or other related TAs (>
  • 3 years)

  • Thorough knowledge and / or experience within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience in building and managing relationships with collaborators and partners
  • Ability to build and lead a team
  • Ability to build a comprehensive strategy, translating strategy into tactics
  • Proven interpersonal skills - ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of legislation and codes governing the pharmaceutical industry
  • Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch-Management
  • Desirable Skills / Experience :

  • Experience in clinical practice
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience with reimbursement submissions and IVS
  • Business Insight / Financial literacy
