We are partnering with a leading company in the medical device industry to recruit a Systems Technician to join their growing team in Galway on a permanent contract .
About the role :
As a Systems Technician, you will support ongoing development to a number of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions, in particular paying attention to PLC controlled equipment, vision systems, revision control systems and manufacturing data integrity and security.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and support the existing automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimised downtime.
- Collaborate with the IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.
- Provide solutions that implement industry best practices to deliver improved productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the organization.
- Install and deploy systems, software, and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate. Source appropriate equipment and services through appropriate liaison with the purchasing department.
- Provide technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager. Benchmark system performance and provide regular reports.
- Interface with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments. Perform system backups and recovery.
- Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, and other applications.
- Provide regular reports to Management and deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets. Document all aspects of system support including all procedures to ISO standards.
- Provide innovative inputs to new production lines in the areas of control, data collection, motive power, robotics, vision systems, and communications.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and intranets.
Requirements :
A degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (2-4 years' relevant experience in Medical Devices orExperience with PLC programming, in-line vision systems, barcode systems, network topology, PC application software, Remote I / O, systematic troubleshooting / problem solving skills.Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drive Technology Experience of TCP / IP and Wide Area Network architectures. Programming of Allen-Bradley Controllogix5000 and PLC5 Visual Basic applications.
