We are seeking a meticulous and motivated Editorial Assistant to join our editorial team and help bring our educational titles to life.
To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable prioritising and managing a busy workload, successfully delivering to tight deadlines, and working well both independently and with others.
Key Responsibilities : Assist editors in preparing manuscripts, teacher resources, and student books for publication.Coordinate with authors, editors, designers, and other contributors throughout the publishing process.Conduct research and fact-checking to ensure content accuracy and compliance with the Irish curriculum.Carry out picture research, source appropriate visual assets, and ensure images meet copyright and educational suitability standards.Manage permissions clearance for third-party content, including tracking requests and maintaining accurate records.Assist with quality assurance checks on page layouts and final proofs.Template manuscripts for layout.Maintain internal documentation such as style guides, permissions logs, editorial templates and reprint corrections.Provide administrative support such as copying, scanning, printing and postage; answering and directing calls; managing invoices and receipts; placing orders; making bookings and assisting with meetings.Required Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and attention to detail.Familiarity with the Irish primary and / or post-primary curriculum is highly desirable.Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines across projects.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Adobe Acrobat also desirable.An understanding of copyright, image licensing, and permissions clearance processes welcome but not essential as training can be provided.Strong organisational and time-management skills.A collaborative approach and willingness to learn.Efficient, welcoming and personable.Education / Qualifications : A degree in English, Education, Publishing, Communications, or a related field.Prior experience in educational publishing or editorial work (internships included) is preferred.Understanding of the Irish education system and classroom environment is a plus.
